New Front Door - Winston Salem, NC
For this project, the homeowners wanted to upgrade their front entrance from the "builder's grade" steel front door, to the warmth of a new fir door with sidelight. The old door was faded due to heavy sun exposure and lacked a weathertight seal. The new solid fir door with Low E glass from Tucker Door & Trim, allows light into the home, improved security, as well as a much more energy efficient product. You can see where the old door had rot and insect damage, which was repaired and resealed before installation of the new door. Work performed by J&L Designs.
Greensboro, NC - Clad Door Project
This project consisted of replacing three old wood patio doors with new Hurd Aluminum Clad French Patio Doors. The customer requested that these doors have additional safety features for increased security and peace of mind. We included a multi-point lock (shown in Oil Rubbed Bronze finish), which bolts in three places on the opposite panel as well as at the head (top) and sill (bottom). Doors also feature, high energy performance, laminated safety glass with SPF to protect against fading and discoloring of flooring and fabrics, while increasing safety. Work performed by J&L Designs.
Greensboro Clad Door Project
New Addition - Shattalon Drive Winston-Salem, NC
Beautiful Marvin Windows adorn this new addition along with cedar shingles and solid cedar beams. The homeowners wanted to keep the aesthetics of the existing house, yet update the features to be energy efficient. They chose Marvin Clad Gliders and due to the heavy sun exposure, they selected high performance Cardinal 366 glass. This glass allows for maximum light transfer, while blocking the solar heat from entering the house. Work performed by Phil Beck Dezigns, Inc.

Window Replacement - Buena Vista Area Winston-Salem, NC
This customer had old, single pane windows that did not operate. While in most cases this can be a nuisance, it also poses a safety risk. They wanted to increase the amount of light into the kitchen and be able to open the windows to allow the gentle breezes to come in. We replaced the inoperable twin double hung unit with Hurd's Aluminum Clad Sliding Window. The old window in the basement was located in a bedroom, which did not open and therefore had no means of escape if there was a fire. This was a major safety issue, which we rectified by replacing the old window with an MW Classic Wood Casement Window & Low E glass. This window now meets current building codes requirements for egress.

Pilot Mountain - Cedar Log Home
This was one of the most picturesque locations we've ever installed! The view from the back porch had a perfect view of the mountain. The 6 fixed windows were in complete disrepair due to wood rot, termite damage and weathering from the constant sun exposure and untreated wood conditions. We replaced these with 4 Hurd All Wood Awning & Picture Window Units and 2 full glass Picture Windows. With the heavy sun exposure, Low E glass was a must have as the heat build up inside was unbearable! These wood windows carried Hurd's exclusive wood protection product called CoreGuard, which carries an incredible Lifetime Warranty!
