ULTREX AND THE ENVIRONMENT

Integrity windows and doors are constructed of Ultrex, a pultruded fiberglass material, that offers environmental friendly attributes through sustainable resources, manufacturing and performance. Integrity products with Ultrex come standard with Low E II insulated glass with Argon and are all ENERGY STAR qualified, as well as, NFRC and WDMA rated - so rest assured that you have chosen a quality performing product that will keep you and the environment happy for a long, long time.

MANUFACTURING

Ultrex is produced in a state-of-the-art pultrusion facility. In fact, it is the only pultrusion facility to completely comply with the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) 1990 Clean Air Act, and has been designated a MACT (Maximum Achievable Control Technology) facility. Ultrex is produced primarily of glass. A combination of 10% recycled glass content and silica sand account for the primary raw glass material in Ultrex, so Ultrex requires 39% less energy to produce than vinyl.

FINISH

Ultrex utilizes one of the best finishes in the window and door industry. Integrity’s patented finishing process applies a finish that is up to 3x thicker than the competition, and is evenly applied with no drips, pinholes or striations. This coextruded mechanically bonded acrylic cap resists UV rays a minimum of 15% better than light colored vinyl finishes, so it won’t chalk, fade or streak. It is also tough enough to stand up to normal wear and tear that leaves lesser finishes scratched, marred or cracked. This amazing patented finishing process is a solvent-free system, and involves no VOCs (volatile organic compounds) during the manufacture or application of the finish. The finish also employs chromate-free pigments, which add to the finishes environmentally friendliness.

PERFORMANCE

In addition to manufacturing Ultrex also provides the benefit of longevity and continued performance. Ultrex, a pultruded fiberglass material, is the backbone of all Integrity from Marvin windows and doors. Ultrex resists heat distortion up to 350 degrees, is non-conductive and non-corrosive. Ultrex also offers superior durability and performance attributes to other available window and door materials, which translates into longevity and continued performance over time. Ultrex offers superior strength and stiffness to vinyl and roll-form aluminum, which translates into jobsite durability, and the ability for Integrity products to resist damage, racking, and out of square issues that can compromise installation and ultimately performance. Ultrex also has an extremely low rate of thermal contraction and expansion. In fact, it expands and contracts at virtually the same miniscule amount as glass, so stress cracks and seal failures that can compromise energy efficiency are a thing of the past.
